Job Title: Camp Ranger/Site Manager
Reports to: Executive Director/Camp Manager/Camp Director (Who the this person reports to specifically is determined by the organizational structure of the camp/retreat center.
Position Purpose: To oversee and maintain all properties of the camp/retreat center facilities.
At some facilities he would also be responsible for hosting various user groups. He would insure that all user groups abide by the various expectations related to safety, handling of user groups funds and generally insuring that user groups are welcomed and taken care of.
Essential Job Functions
1. Oversee and maintain all properties.
- Supervise all use of the property
- Ensure a healthy and safe camp environment
- Know emergency procedures
2. Ability to perform a variety of basic maintenance skills.
- Air conditioning and heating
- Vehicle maintenance
- Dry wall repair
3. Operation of physical facilities and property.
- Operate and keep all physical property and equipment, including tractors and mowers, in safe operating condition.
- Be alert to conditions that affect health, safety, sanitation, and good housekeeping practice.
- Maintain swimming pool and be able to operate filtration system. (if facility has a pool.)
- Make regular inspections to determine essential repairs and corrective
- action required
- Maintain a record of all maintenance performed
4. Working with rental groups
- Communicate with rental groups as requested by camp management
- Welcome and host rental groups
Insure that rental groups are aware of various camp policies relating to their event.
At conclusion of rental group activities conduct a camp inspection to insure that they have complied with rental clean up policies.
A member in good standing with the Seventh-day Adventist church.
High school diploma, GED or equivalent documented experience
Three years experience in construction trades or general maintenance management.
Valid driver’s license necessary to carry out assignments. May be expected to have CDL Class B license.
Be current in First Aid, CPR, and other needed certifications.
Have basic computer skills.
Willing to accept a flexible work schedule that may at times include holidays.
Shown ability to handle financial resources.
Background/Criminal check and Shield the Vulnerable training
Physical Aspects of the Job
Be able to drive and operate camp vehicles.
Have the necessary physical strength to carry out maintenance and repairs (e.g. to lift heavy objects up to 70 lbs or 32kg, to dig, to load and unload trucks, to carry out assigned repairs).
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing

Food Service Director
Job Title: Food Service Director
Reports to: Executive Director/Camp Manager/Camp Director (Who the Food Service director reports too specifically is determined by the organizational structure of the camp/retreat center)
Position Purpose: The Food Service Director directs the overall food-service operation of the camp including purchasing, preparation, nutrition, service, sanitation, security, personnel management, customer service, and record keeping.
Essential Job Functions
1. Manage the daily operations of the camp food and dining service including coordinating activities between the kitchen and dining room/cafeteria.
- Oversee the planning and preparation of nutritionally balanced camp meals, snacks, and food taken out to overnights, outpost camps, etc.
- Ensure serving of all camp meals through directing kitchen staff, other staff as needed, volunteers, etc.
- Ensure safe and efficient preparation and serving of camp meals.
- Coordinate menu planning for user/rental groups as requested.
- Ensure that kitchen facilities meet health standards of local state and county.
- If ACA accredited, insure that all standards relating to food service or met.
2. Oversee the inventory and ordering of food, equipment, and supplies and arrange for the routine maintenance, sanitation, and upkeep of the camp kitchen, its equipment and facilities.
- Maintain inventory of food and household supplies
- Order food and kitchen supplies consistent with menus and attendance counts.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and safety,.
- Clean and maintain all food-service areas, including kitchen, dining hall, storage, and kitchen recycling.
- Inspect equipment and ensure equipment is repaired as necessary.
- Promote practices that seek to reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as much as possible.
3. Manage all administration and human-resource functions with regard to all food service employees.
- Monitor employee performance and training.
- Assist with interviewing and hiring all kitchen staff.
- Plan, coordinate, schedule, and supervise the work of all food service staff.
Qualifications (Minimum Education and Experience)
- Documented experience in institutional or large food service operations.
- Knowledge of and experience in food service: ordering, inventory, budgeting, food preparation, family-style serving, buffet serving, cleaning, and institutional kitchen equipment.
- Must hold current certification or licensure for operating a kitchen in the camps jurisdiction. Example: Serve/Safe certification or other comparable certification.
- Ability to work within a budge and purchase supplies efficiently.
- Experience in supervision.
- Background/Criminal record check including Shield the Vulnerable
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current health and safety laws and practices is essential.
- Knowledge of and experience in preparation of special dietary foods.
Physical Aspects of the Job
- Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards of the site and facilities and camper and staff behavior.
- Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing/walking for long periods of time (60 minutes or more).
- Ability to provide first aid and to assist campers and staff in an emergency.
