Camp History Camp Thunderbird charts its origin back to 1950. Its first location was the Bethlehem Bible facility outside of Nashville, Tennessee It later relocated to Chattnooga, Tennessee where the facility is rented for 5-6 weeks every summer to conduct camping ministries for young people around the nation and Bermuda. Information on Property and Camp Facilities The camp has two lodges, two shelters, a cafeteria, full court basketball, swimming pool, play ground equipment and beautiful forestry and trails and is connected to Lake Chicamagua. Camp Programs and Special Features Our camp hosts Friendship Camp (ages 8-14, Adventurer and Junior Sports Camps (ages 7-12), Teen Camp (ages 13-19), and Basketball Camp (ages 7and up). It is the first and only regional conference with an accredited camp facility. Camp Mission Current camp info goes here. Directions to Camp From Atlanta, take I-75 north to Chattanooga. Take Exit 4 (Highway 153/Airport/Chickamauga Dam). Continue on Highway 153 north to the Highway 58 north/Decatur exit. Take this exit and continue north on Highway 58 for several miles. When the highway narrows to four lanes, get in the left lane and watch for the Booker T. Washington State Park signs. Follow the signs. You will make a left about one mile down Champion Road. Call the park if you have problems (423-899-4955). From Knoxville, take I-75 south to Chattanooga. Take Exit 4 and follow the above directions. From Birmingham, Nashville, and Huntsville, take I-24 east into Chattanooga. Stay on I-24 for several miles. As you enter downtown Chattanooga, you will see signs to Atlanta/Knoxville. Follow these signs (you will still be on I-24). Continue on I-24 around Chattanooga, and then take I-75 north. Get in the left lane and take Exit 4. Follow the above directions.
