Camp History  Camp Yavapines is located on 168 acres in the pines of Yavapi National Forest. It is three hours' driving time from Blythe, California, and two hours' driving time from Phoenix. It is also approximately a three hours' drive from the Grand Canyon. Located on the west end of the city of Prescott, the elevation is 5,400 feet, making Camp Yavapines a pleasant place to experience all four seasons. Information on Property and Camp Facilities The cafeteria/dining hall seats 240 and features a large stone fireplace and annex room. A fully-supplied lodge containing six rooms is located above the dining hall. Modern buildings nearby contain ideal meeting rooms. Over 240 cabins, each sleeping eight, are located near the bath house. There are 125 RV and camper sites, most with hookups available, and 40 tent sites. A 16-stall horse barn, tack and storage rooms, pole corral, and grazing area complete the horse facilities. A chapel seats 750, and meeting rooms seat 150. A dome-covered pavilion with a concrete floor and stage can seat over 3,000. A modern gymnasium (activity center) is equipped for volleyball and basketball, and also contains a stage. An Olympic-size swimming pool is heated and available for seasonal usage, along with a baseball diamond with bleachers. Campfire bowls feature wagon/western and Indian themes. The forest offers many hiking trails and is maintained by the National Forestry Service. Camp Programs and Special Features Youth camp programs include canoeing and kayaking at nearby Goldwater Lake, archery, horsemanship, mountain biking, rock-climbing, swimming, mountain boarding, and BMX. Directions to Camp Because the city of Prescott can be found on any Arizona map (it is a town of historical interest and small-town attractions), simply get to the northwest side of the city. A major street running east and west is Iron Springs Road. Take Iron Springs Road west to the outskirts of town; the camp entrance is located on the south side of Iron Springs Road.
