Foothills Camp Accredited by the Alberta Camping Assocation
Camp History Foothills Camp is accredited with the Alberta Camping Association and is a member of the Camp Horsemanship Association. Information on Property and Camp Facilities The camp property consists of 320 acres of pine and deciduous forest and borders on the Little Red Deer River. Campers live in village units that are screened, have electricity, and are heated. Modern central washroom facilities are available for boys and girls. Other facilities include a well-equipped kitchen, a large attractive cathedral-ceiling dining hall, comfortable camp council meeting hall, indoor activities/recreational hall, large covered riding ring, four craft and activities buildings, a recreation field, BMX track, heated swimming pool, and an infirmary. Foothills is one hour north of Calgary and one hour and 45 minutes south of Edmonton. Camp Programs and Special Features Foothills offers a wide range of activities for boys and girls in land sports, wilderness adventure, swimming, waterskiing, crafts, trips, BMX biking, a high and low ropes course, and horseback riding. Four tree houses, plus a cook house, in Sherwood forest. Activities are not separated by age or sex, and activity schedules are determined according to individual camper choices. Turn west on Highway 587 (at the Red Lodge Provincial Park exit); travel 16 km (10 miles) west, 3.2 km (2 miles) south, and 3.2 km (2 miles) west. From Calgary, take the Olds exit, Highway 27. Go 6.4 km (4 miles) past Olds, turn north on Range Rd 2.03 km and travel for 12.8 km (8 miles), then turn west on Township Road 342 and go 4.8 km (3 miles).
