Camp Pugwash
Camp History Elder Carl Wessman, publishing director of the Maritime Conference in 1943, noticed the beautiful property by the ocean for sale and advised conference administration. The land was purchased for approximately $600, and the first summer camp on this site was conducted in 1944 under the leadership of Elder and Mrs. Bedwell. Elder R. W. Numbers was the conference president at that time. Led by conference president J. W. Bothe, the first conference campmeeting was conducted there in 1952. Summer programs have continuously been held at Camp Pugwash since that time. Information on Property and Camp Facilities The camp is open for part of the summer. There is no conference center, but the auditorium seats approximately 600 people. Cabins, trailer, and tenting sites are available. Camp Programs and Special Features Programs include Blind Camp, Junior Camp, Teen Camp and Young Adult Camp. The camp is situated on the beautiful Northumberland Strait and has a beach. Open from May 15 through October of each year. Camp Mission Current camp info goes here. Directions to Camp From Highway 104 (east or west), take Exit 7 onto Highway 368. Proceed on Highway 368 to the end of the road at Highway 6. Turn left (west) onto Highway 6 and continue approximately 8 km. Pass the Shell station on the right and continue 100 metres. Turn right onto Church Street (in the town of Pugwash), which becomes Gulf Shore Road. Continue for about 8 km. Pugwash SDA Camp is on the left.
